Run Club Policy and Disclaimer
WhyWeRun Run Clubs are informal, community-led running sessions operated by volunteers on behalf of Why We Run Ltd. They are free to attend, non-competitive, and open to all runners aged 18 and over.
By attending a Why We Run Club, you acknowledge the terms below and accept full responsibility for your participation.
What to Expect
- Why We Run Clubs are informal group runs organised by volunteers.
- These are not races, training sessions, or professionally coached events.
- Volunteer run leaders may or may not hold first aid or coaching qualifications.
Your Responsibility
By attending a Why We Run Club, you agree that:
- You participate entirely at your own risk and are solely responsible for your actions and safety.
- You are responsible for determining your own fitness and health.
- You will inform the run leader of any medical condition that may affect your participation.
- If you feel unwell or cannot continue, you will stop and notify someone in the group.
- If you leave the group mid-session, you will inform the run leader before doing so.
- You understand there is no guaranteed first aid provision at sessions.
Participation Rules
- You must be 18 or older to attend.
- Appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn.
- Runs may include roads, trails, elevation, and varied weather - come prepared.
- The run leader may refuse participation for safety reasons.
- Disrespectful or unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated.
Weather & Cancellations
- Sessions may be cancelled due to poor weather or safety concerns.
- Updates will be shared in the WhatsApp group or via Strava.
Photography & Media
- Photos and videos may be taken and used on our social media channels or in promotional materials.
- Please notify the run leader before the session if you do not want to be photographed.
Emergencies
- In the event of an emergency, call 112, or 999
- Volunteers will assist where possible, but are not medical professionals.
Waiver of Liability & Indemnity
By choosing to participate in any Why We Run Run Club activity, whether on foot, on course, before, during, or after the run itself, you acknowledge and accept that:
- You understand the risks involved in outdoor group running, including but not limited to slips, trips, falls, adverse weather, road crossings, uneven or unstable terrain, and other environmental hazards.
- You voluntarily assume full responsibility for any injury, illness, accident, loss, or damage sustained during or after your participation.
- You waive and release Why We Run Ltd, its directors, officers, founders, employees, volunteers, affiliates, and brand partners from any and all claims, demands, liabilities, or causes of action arising from your participation, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.
- You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Why We Run Ltd and all associated individuals or entities from any claim made against them resulting from your participation in Run Club activities..
Governing Law
This policy and waiver are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
